free your hair brush

Healthy hair starts at the roots, where circulation feeds growth and your natural oils feed your hair! Softened, irregular bristles move oils through to your ends, bringing health and balance to all parts of your hair and scalp. These beauties are handmade, uniquely engraved with a limited edition design by Sarah-Ann Caldwell, and lovingly conditioned with sweet almond oil and rose.

I am so happy to have been able to source these handcrafted ‘Free Your Hair’ hairbrushes from hairdresser extraordinaire,  Roxie Jane Hunt. They’re designed for all hair types (including straight, fine, thick, coarse curls + kinks), and feature a beautiful classic mixed nylon/boar bristle brush-head and sustainably harvested beech wood handle… this brush feels as good in your hand as it does in your hair!

Additional information

Before your shower, devote five minutes to your hair. De-tangle, starting at the ends and working your way up to your scalp. Then focus on your scalp by brushing from all directions, slowly and steadily, to move the oils from your scalp into your hair.

The first time you use this brush, it may feel a bit stiff and rough… so brush gently until the bristles soften with use. Before long, you'll be craving this amazing feeling that an irregular-bristle brush gives! (If you'd like to make the process of bristle-softening go a little quicker, soak the bristles in a shallow dish of warm shampoo-soapy water for ten minutes, then give her an extra massage with conditioner and rinse. Lay brush bristle-down on a towel. When dry, massage your favorite oil over the wood for long-lasting beauty. There's no need to be rough back at the brush, a gentle wash and warm water is enough:)

This is also the process for cleaning your brush. Before soaking, though, remove hair from the cushion bed. After the wash and condition, use a comb to gently loosen and remove any buildup that may have developed, rinse and dry on a towel before applying the conditioning oil.

Individually crafted of sustainably harvested beech wood and classic mixed nylon + boar bristles.

brushing ritual

A little intention can also be given to this hair ritual:

What are you ready to release?

As you brush, imagine the stagnant energy that may have built up around you moving effortlessly through your hair and into your brush. Each fallen hair that has released in your brush can bring with it something that you are ready to let go of in your life. What are you making room for when you let go? What would you LOVE to bring into your life? Brush all of these into your hair!
