Here’s some interesting information about jojoba:
The jojoba bean doesn’t actually contain oil, but a liquid wax ester which has the same molecular structure as the natural moisturizing factor in skin, called sebum. This means that it’s easier for our skin to recognize and welcome it in, delivering all the essential nutrients and vitamins to nourish and deeply moisturize our skin.
Jojoba naturally contains vitamins A, D and E, and Omega 6 and 9 which are all important for rejuvenating skin cells and keeping them supple and elastic. And as a liquid wax, it behaves in the opposite way to that of an oil by opening the pores, keeping them clear, and penetrating deeply into the skin. This is why it’s the perfect ingredient for a cleanser, an oil balancer, clarifier, and moisturizer, all wrapped into one.
As we get older, we lose the wax ester content in our skin, so jojoba is the perfect remedy to replenish what we’ve lost. In addition, a study done at the Department of Environment and Life Sciences in Italy found that jojoba can accelerate the wound-healing process by improving wound closure speed and stimulating collagen synthesis. It’s also hypoallergenic, so it’s extremely rare that anyone reacts negatively to it. Jojoba is such an amazing plant!
